Hi, I’m a tutor.

Standardized Tests: SAT, ACT, GMAT, GRE

Writing: Applications, Assignments, and Grammar Guidance

Math: Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calc, Statistics, and Logic

I love reasoning as it applies to all disciplines, and I get to study my favorite reasoning puzzles at Princeton University, where I am earning my PhD in philosophy. When I was attending college at U.C. Berkeley, I earned my BA in English literature. Since then, I expanded my studies to encompass language, logic, and math and earning an MA the Graduate Center at CUNY in philosophy.

Over the last decade, I've helped hundreds of students reason (and often laugh) their way to dramatically higher scores and grades. I've heavily invested that time preparing students for such brain teasers as the SAT, ACT, GMAT and GRE; college applications; and English and math courses.

I’ve helped especially diligent students pull off amazing feats, most obviously in their standardized tests, which are straightforwardly quantifiable. In only three weeks, I brought an SAT student's score up 120 points. Other students have enjoyed increases of about 300 points on the SAT and, with one student, a whopping 10 points on the ACT. I love working to help a high-scoring student grab the last coveted points they deserve to reach a perfect score. I have been so happy to share in the success of students getting into their dream schools.

I also delight in helping students with their math and English courses. I tutored a struggling math student to maintain nothing but A grades through algebra I, II, and geometry. I’ve had similar results guiding students through their English courses, especially AP Literature.

I've worked with, trained with, hired for, and written curricula for some smart outfits: Noodle Pros, College Prep. 360, Tutorverse, Wheeler Test Prep., Crowning Point, and James Eno Tutorials, and Premier Plus. I have authored two SAT-specific grammar guides for tutoring companies. At Premier Plus, I was the SAT Director for nearly two years. I led a three-person team there to write mock tests for the New SAT. I was also entrusted to hire or vet incoming SAT and ACT tutors for several tutoring center locations, so I have become something of a tutor of tutors.

I am intimately familiar with the pressure very young students are under to achieve extraordinary intellectual feats. In consideration of these modern difficulties, I make sure to demonstrate anti-anxiety tactics and always manage to squeeze in a laugh or two.
